This PRS 408 is decked out with some of the nicest appointments possible. First of all, the top is an artist-grade flamed maple. That means this top gos to 11! You’ll have a tough time finding a cut of maple with smoother, more elegant markings. It works with the Olde Natural finish to give this 408 a refined and classy vibe. Next, the Pattern neck on this guitar is a lovely piece of flame maple. We’re used to seeing this wood on tops, but we rarely come across it on necks. Lastly, the fretboard of this guitar is made of Brazilian rosewood, which is both increasingly rare and perhaps the best tone wood in the world. In other words, this 408 is completely outfitted with some of the best and most unique specs you’re going to find anywhere. You’re won’t see many 408s like this.
Electronically, this 408 has been tweaked with PRS’s exacting tonal standards. The neck pickup is a bit slimmer than a standard humbucker, and the bridge pickup is a bit fatter. The result is an increased tonal spectrum in the bridge with a tighter low end in the neck and more articulate highs throughout. A mini-toggle coil tap for each of these unique pickups provides sparkling, vocal like tone. PRS Phase III locking tuners and the PRS Tremolo bridge ensure tuning stability no matter what. The PRS 408 is one of the nicest guitars around. Add unique neck wood, hybrid hardware and a great top, and you’ve got one of the best electric guitars money can buy.
