MORE ABOUT VINTAGE CUSTOM 1959 TELECASTER® CUSTOM
By the late 1950s, the Telecaster had firmly established its reputation as the premier workhorse guitar, but for the player seeking a guitar with the versatility of a Tele and a more distinct personality, the choices were few and far between. Enter the Telecaster Custom, which debuted in 1959, sporting an elegant double-bound body and alluring rosewood fingerboard – both firsts for the Telecaster. The Vintage Custom 1959 Telecaster Custom boasts the same refined look as the original, along with some rare and compelling features from the Tele’s formative years that we felt modern players and vintage tone hounds alike would appreciate. It comes equipped with hand-wound ’58 Tele single-coil pickups and Fat ’50s wiring for wide-open Tele tone that can easily handle any playing situation. The neck features a vintage 7.25″-9.5″ compound radius, which we found on some rare examples, giving it a unique feel even among vintage-inspired models. It also features medium vintage frets, which are slightly larger than a vintage size and very comfortable to play.Other features include a NOS flash-coat lacquer chocolate 3-color sunburst finish, Closet Classic hardware, 2-piece off-center alder body, tinted rift-sawn maple neck with flat lam fingerboard and ’59 large “C”-shaped neck profile, 21 vintage modified frets, 3-way switch, Fat ’50s Tele control assembly, 1-ply parchment pickguard, ’58-’63 Tele bridge with threaded steel saddles, bone nut, wing string tree and vintage-style tuning machines. An elegant take on a timeless classic, this Telecaster combines, form, function and feel with the most important element—authentic Fender sound.
