Masterdesign Fender Custom Shop guitars are always something pretty special, plucked from the minds of the legendary Masterbuilders; these gems are crafted by the equally legendary Fender Custom Shop team builders. The MD ’53 Telecaster is a Paul Waller designed beauty! With the appearance of a vintage guitar this Custom Shop model benefits from all the playability and reliability of a brand new one. An Ash body is finished in a classic White Blonde Journeyman finish. The Journeyman is a very lightly aged nitro finish; this gives the look and feel of a vintage guitar that has been lovingly cared for over the years. This finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other more modern finishes.
The Riff Sawn Maple neck offers a smooth, authentic, vintage feel and with a 9.5″ radius, 21 medium jumbo frets and a 25.5″scale length, it’s a real joy to play. This Tele features a ’53 soft V back shape which is really comfortable underhand, great at either end of the neck.
Custom electronics, with a hand wound ’51 Nocaster at the neck and a Broadcaster at the bridge it offers delicious Tele tones. These pickups have been underwound and benefit from a Clapton mid-boost preamp under the pickguard, this gives you a really unique flavour and isn’t something you would traditionally find on a Telecaster.
